Genre Research: Mystery

  •  The common camera angles used in the mystery genre are bird's eye view, panning shot, closed shot, tilted shots, high angle, tracking shot, and wide shots.
  • Common costume, lighting, makeup, props, and set used in the mystery genre is dark lighting, casual clothes, simple makeup, sets where the mystery usually takes place, and props that are used as clues left behind.
  • Common 3diting in the mystery genre is the fade-out transition, fade-in transition, jump-cut editing, and action match.
  •  Common sound used in the mystery genre is dialogue, voice-over, ambient sound, and non-diegetic sound.
  •  Examples of mystery films are Class Onion, A Hunting in Venice, Indian Jones, The Killer, and Murder Mystery 2.
  • Elements of the genre I like is the lightening used in the genre it helps set the mood and the feeling that this going to be a mystery. Another thing is the camera angles and the editing makes the audience get hooked up to the storyline.
  • Elements of the genre that did not appeal to me was that I didn't like the music used in this genre. The music is usually dramatic and goes along with what the actors are doing in the film. Meaning if someone drops a book the music would be going along with it.

Music Video

 Hi thank you for watching.

Doing a film review + adding changes to it

On March 11 I had my sister do a film review of my opening sequence. My sister reviewed it and said that she liked the beginning shot and the music chosen for the beginning of the opening sequence. However, she did make a few suggestions to change the lightning to make it have a more mysterious vibe. So, one of the first changes I made was to adjust the lighting to darker. To do this I clicked on my opening sequence went to the bottom of the options and chose "adjust". With these options, I was able to adjust my lighting to make it have a more mysterious vibe. She also suggested to increase the volume of the main character talking because she couldn't understand what she said in the opening sequence. I went into CapCut to fix these by increasing the volume on the parts where the main character is speaking. To do this I clicked on the audio of the scene where she was talking and there was an option to increase the volume so, I just adjusted the volume to higher to make su...

Production Blog choosing the app, importing photos, and music

I started to begin working on my All About Me commercial. I'm really excited to work on it because it's my first time making a commercial. The first thing I did was look for an editing app. There were many to choose from so, this process took a while. Many of them looked hard to use. I asked my teacher which one and she recommended capcut. I never used capcut before so, it was an interesting experience. When I got into the app it was a little bit confusing. I figured it out and made a project on there. I named it "AICE Media Studies All About Me commercial." I chose the videos and the photos I already planned to use. I needed to add the music. This was hard for me because I didn't know how to get the music. I asked my sister and she told me I had to download it. I downloaded both of my songs and imported them into capcut. I started to work on cutting my videos to show the parts I wanted to use. I did this for all of my videos because most of them were too long and...
