Genre Research: Oppenheimer
- What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?
Conventions of the genre I chose to be in my final task the movie Oppenheimer has close-ups, wide shots, and overhead shots. I decided to use these shots because they helped create the storyline and allowed the audience to know that the genre is a mystery. For example, the close-up shots would be for emotional moments while the wide shots are for context. Therefore, I would like to use these in my opening sequence to help convey the genre I am going for.
- What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked?
Conventions of the genre the movie Oppenheimer had was the dark lightning. As I researched and watched movies of my genre mystery all of them have the same lightning. The majority of movies in the mystery genre use low-key lightning which helps set the mysterious tone. In this movie, they used it throughout every scene which helped a lot with the tone of the story which is something that I like and will use for my final task.
- What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you and you are thinking of not filming for your final task?
Conventions of the genre in Oppenheimer that did not appeal to me was again the dialogue. After doping more research into the mystery genre there is a lot of dialogue between the characters. I'm only working by myself so it's not convenient for me to have dialogue in my opening sequence. Therefore, I decided to not do this convention in my final task.
