CCR Part one

Hi, this is my first part of my CCR enjoy!!

Script:

Hi, this is Elizabeth. Welcome to my Podcast. This is part one of my CCR. I’m going to be answering questions about my opening sequence.

So, for my first question it’s How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

My product  employs the convections typically found in mystery. When researching this genre the movies I used for inspiration are Oppenheimer, Murder Mystery, and Murder on the Orient Express . For all these movies they had a lot of the same shots used. For example, in all the three movies combined they used over-shoulder shots.  In my opening sequence I used this shot many times.  I really liked using this shot. I felt like it helped a lot by giving it a mysterious vibe. Because, the over shoulder helped give more context in my opening sequence when the main character would be on her phone which is what mostly all of the over shoulders were used on in my sequence. There were also many other shots that I got from these movies such as a close-up shot, and wide shots. Another convention I noticed from all of these three mystery videos was the lightning. In all the movies the lightning would match the mood of the atmosphere. For example, in “Murder on the Orient Express” they would use a different combination of natural and artificial light to help achieve the mood. The lightning is what kinda helped it make it have the mysterious vibe. So, for my opening sequence I decided to make my lightning a little bit dark to give a mysterious vibe. When something intense happened like the stalker following the main character on her walk the lightning would get darker to make it a little bit suspenseful and give a feeling of someone is following them. It was different compared to the scene when she was in her room. The lightning was a little bit brighter because the mood and the atmosphere wasn’t as dark since she is in a comfortable safe place. My opening sequence represents a social issue because stalking, stealing, and kidnapping is a problem that many deal with. In my opening sequence I wanted it to show how important it is to keep an eye for yourself and for the things that you  valued  you. When going out you should always keep out and beware of your surroundings because, you could never know what can happen even though it could start out as a perfectly normal day. For example in my opening sequence for the main character it was a perfectly normal day for her because she got this new dog which she was excited for. However, at the end of the day to gets worse because she ends up loosing her dog. Overall the message is to look for yourself because you could lose the things you value and might not know who did it or what the person's intentions actually are. Which shows why it's a mystery because in the opening sequence you don’t know who is following the girl or why they would kidnap her dog.

Another convention was the music this played big role into the mystery genres. The music is what helps really know what type of genre it was. The music in the mystery movies is usually suspenseful. For example, in my opening sequence I used this type of music for example in opening sequences I made sure to use suspendful sounds and mystery sounds that I found in Youtube. I felt like it helped a lot with making the genre Mystery.

For my second questions it’s How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be contributed as a real media text?

My product engages with the audience because it targets those who had a similar experience of kidnapping or their dog being stolen and it also makes the audience want to know what would happen since they are left on a cliff-hanger since the genre is a mystery. As the story goes it's like the audience is there with the main character because they don’t have any context of who the stalker is and what could happen next. I think that's why choosing mystery for my genre was the best option because it makes the audience want to know what will happen next and keep watching as if they're engaging with the opening sequence. For example, my opening sequence ends with the main character calling 911 then running off without showing what will happen next. think this helps make the audience be engaged with the opening sequence and want to keep watching it. Especially for those who are interested in this topic or relate to it since, it is an issue a lot has to deal with in today's society. I would distribute my opening sequence into YouTube. I think Youtube would fit it perfectly because, YouTube is a platform where you could upload any type of videos you want. Since, this is just an opening sequence and not a full movie it would suit it better to be on Youtube. The opening sequence is a creative idea and I think it being distributed on Youtube is the best option because it's the best platform to post your creativity on. Thank you for listening and this is my part one for my CCR.

Group Blog

For this project, I'm going to be working by myself. However, my sister will help me with the filming part. My sister's name is Natalie. I chose her to help me film because it would make the opening sequence better. I wanted to work by myself on this project because I felt like I could make a good opening sequence by myself and with the help of my sister. I could do a better job being by myself because I don't have to stress on relying on others if they did their part and I'm able to have total control of making something that I want to do. My sister and I are different so, for this opening sequence, she can help or contribute a few suggestions to make this a good opening sequence. I can use Natalie because she is my sister we both take this class but, in different periods. Since I'm her sister I know what her work ethics are like. And I can trust her that she will help me with making the opening sequence. For this project, my sister is going to help me with the fi...

Adding transitions and overlays

On February 27 I continued to edit my opening sequence. On this day I did overlays and added transitions. I wanted to add an overlay for the scene when the main character was calling her friend on the bed. To do this I changed my own contact's name to "bestie" and made it look like I was calling someone. I took a picture of the call. Then imported the picture to CapCut. To do this I clicked on the "add photo" at the bottom of CapCut and then chose the photo I wanted. After I clicked on the photo went to the options on the bottom and chose "overlay". After choosing the overlay I dragged it to the scene where I wanted. Adjusted the size and placed it on top of my phone. Then adjusted the length of the overlay of how long I wanted to have it on the screen. This was a little bit hard to do because I hadn't done something like this before. So, to add this overlay it took about forty-five minutes or more to do. I did the same steps for the "unknown...
